Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, is proposing to develop a new discount food store in Broomhouse.

The proposals would improve the range and quality of shopping provision within the local area, reducing the need for customers to travel out with the area and will provide the local community with access to Aldi’s high-quality offer and award-winning low prices.

The development would also bring significant investment and jobs to the local area, both during construction and once operating, with Aldi preferring that store staff are generally recruited from the local area.

Aldi held two in person and one virtual consultation events in September 2022, and received comments from over 300 local residents with over 90% being in support of the proposals.

A formal planning application has now been submitted to Glasgow City Council and can be viewed on their planning portal. The support of local residents will go a long way in helping us to achieve planning permission from Glasgow City Council. We would very much appreciate it if you could continue to show your support for the proposals by contacting Glasgow City Council’s Planning Department and letting them know your views.
