Proposals
We are excited to outline Aldi’s ambitious plans for expansion and investment in the Longbridge area with a new store on Bristol Road South, adjacent to McDonald’s. This significant investment seeks to not only deliver high-quality and low-cost products but also contribute to the Longbridge economy with up to 50 new jobs.
Key features of the proposal include:
- An investment of £7 million into the local economy, reflecting our commitment to Longbridge and its development.
- A new Aldi food store with a sales area of 1,315sqm, providing ample space for a wide range of products.
- Creation of up to 50 full-time equivalent jobs at the new Aldi store, with Aldi’s industry leading pay rates that exceed the National Living Wage – currently £11.40.
- Provision of 109 customer parking spaces with free parking for 90 minutes. Seven accessible bays and six parent & child spaces will be available, designed with customer convenience in mind.
- From the outset there will be four electric vehicle charging points (two accessible), with additional infrastructure installed for future expansion should demand rise.
- Regeneration of a site that has lain dormant for over 20 years, breathing new life into this overlooked space that can help serve the new and current Longbridge community.
- Provision of additional employment opportunities during the construction phase and in the supply chain, further bolstering the local economy.
- Attractive landscaping around the site to enhance its appearance and contribute positively to the local environment.
These proposed improvements are designed to offer not only an excellent and affordable shopping experience but also make a substantial contribution to the local community and economy.
