Support a brand new Aldi food store for Longbridge
During November 2023 Aldi ran a public consultation on our plans for expansion and investment in Longbridge with a new store on Bristol Road South. The consultation was held from Monday 20 November 2023 to Thursday 30 November 2023.
Aldi received an overwhelming response that sends a clear message – Longbridge wants an Aldi. 94% or 603 of you supported the plans. We are now calling on all supporters and the wider community to get behind us and tell Birmingham City Council that you support this scheme and want to see it approved.
With your support Aldi can deliver:
- Significant investment into the area totaling over £7 million and act as a catalyst for future development.
- Regeneration of a site that has laid empty for 20 years with a modestly sized food store with a sales area of 1,315sqm.
- Affordable products that are high quality, low cost, driving prices down for consumers in the local area.
- Up to 50 jobs for local people all paid at Aldi’s industry leading pay rates that exceed the National Living Wage, as well as further employment during construction and throughout the supply chain.
- 109 car parking spaces free to use, including seven accessible bays and six parent & child bays, designed with customer convenience in mind
- From the outset there will be four electric vehicle charging points with additional infrastructure so more can be added in the future.
- Bicycle storage facilities so those travelling to the site by bike can safely store it during their shop.
- Environmental improvements providing attractive landscaping around the site to enhance its appearance.
Aldi is grateful for the level of support their application has received. We want to breathe new life into this site which has been overlooked for too long and can now help serve the new and current Longbridge community.
