Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, is proposing to develop a new discount food store in Macduff. 

The proposals would deliver a new, modern food store development to serve residents living within Macduff and Banff, improving the range and quality of shopping provision within the local area. The proposal would introduce a brand-new discount store to Macduff, reducing the need for customers to travel substantial distances out with the towns to access the nearest discount food store and will provide the local community with access to Aldi’s high-quality offer and award-winning low prices.

The development would also bring significant investment and jobs to the local area, both during construction and once operating, with Aldi preferring that store staff are generally recruited from the local area.

Aldi consulted on the proposals in September 2021 and received over 700 responses, with over 98% of those responses indicating support for the proposals. Following the consultation process, the formal planning application has now been submitted and can be viewed on Aberdeenshire Councils’ planning portal at the below link:
