Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, in partnership with Eshton Group, is preparing proposals for Phase 1 of a new local neighbourhood centre. The proposal site is allocated in the masterplan for the new North Northallerton development area and is anchored by Aldi.
Located to the north of Northallerton town, the new local neighbourhood centre is part of the wider residential-led development known as North Northallerton. Significant residential development has already been approved, and much of the housing and associated infrastructure is completed with many properties now occupied.
This location is a ‘gateway site’ to the area. The design, layout, and landscaping are all carefully planned to create a positive first impression. We’ve ensured easy pedestrian access from Darlington Road and North Moor Road, and the local neighbourhood centre is strategically positioned away from the roundabout. This deliberate choice allows for the creation of valuable public open space, as envisioned in the original masterplan for the North Northallerton expansion area.

- Aldi food store
- Burger King restaurant with drive-thru lane
- Starbucks coffee shop with drive-thru lane
- Sandwich shop to be operated by Greggs
- Associated parking for the proposals
The plans will also contribute towards local economic growth, provide much-needed retail, food and drink facilities and support up to 110 new full and part-time jobs for local people.
