Proposals for a new Aldi store for Seacombe
Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, is excited to announce plans for a new high-quality food store in Seacombe, at a site off Birkenhead Road.
The proposal site is vacant, brownfield land located off Birkenhead Road, opposite the junction with Kelvin Road. The site has had a number of previous uses, including as a timber yard and pallet centre, and currently serves as a lorry park. An opportunity exists to transform this site, creating a new Aldi food store and improve shopping options for residents in the area.
Aldi is preparing a planning application for submission to Wirral Council. Aldi is keen to consult with the community ahead of submission so that we can hear your views first hand and take those into account as we finalise our proposals. We will report the outcome of this consultation in a Statement of Community Involvement submitted with the planning application and encourage you to participate and provide your thoughts.
Thank you for visiting our public consultation website. We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Community Consultation
Aldi deeply values community involvement when proposing new stores. To this end, we will be initiating a community consultation to gather insights from residents in Seacombe before we submit a formal planning application.
This community consultation will be open to comments until 11 May 2026. This website will remain accessible throughout the entire planning process.
Once the community consultation concludes, Aldi will carefully review all the feedback received. This will play a vital role in shaping the planning application we submit to Wirral Council in the subsequent months.
Improved choice for Seacombe
Aldi would like to improve access to our low-cost, high-quality products for residents in Seacombe.
Residents wishing to access Aldi’s award-winning range of low-cost, high-quality products must currently travel further afield, including to Birkenhead, nearly two miles away. Existing stores in the area are increasingly popular and serve different catchment areas, limiting access to discount retail options for residents in Seacombe.
A new Aldi food store in this area would enhance the local retail offering and provide access to a discount retailer in the community for years to come.
