Update on development proposals for a new Aldi discount food store at Portsmouth Road, Thames Ditton

As you may be aware following extensive consultation with the public, Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, submitted a planning application to redevelop land at the former Jaguar Dealership along Portsmouth Road, Thames Ditton with a new, high-quality, discount food store.

In light of further feedback received from the community, we have amended the proposals to address comments related to the highway proposals

Listening to feedback – Our amended highways plan

  • Highway improvements including a right turn lane serving the site and Portsmouth Avenue, helping to reduce potential congestion around the access and along Portsmouth Road
  • A signal-controlled pedestrian crossing on Portsmouth Road, providing a safe means of crossing for pedestrians, which this part of Portsmouth Road currently lacks.
  • Relocation of cycle parking spaces closer to the store
