Proposals for a new Aldi store for Yate
Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, is excited to announce plans for a new high-quality food store at Riverside Retail Park in Yate.
The plans involve conversion of the building that was formerly occupied by Cineworld, following the cinema chain’s decision to close earlier this year.
An Aldi food store will bring new life to the area and up to 40 new jobs at industry-leading rates.
The plans do not involve any substantial changes to the building itself: the main alterations will be some minor changes to the car park, a new entrance/exit lobby and the creation of a new delivery bay in the rear service yard.
Update – 15 May 2025
We are delighted to report that South Gloucestershire Council’s Development Management Committee has voted unanimously in favour of granting planning permission for the plans.
Thank you to everyone who has engaged with and supported our plans: the planning application received almost 400 letters of support from local residents.
Improved choice for Yate
Aldi would like to offer residents in Yate access to our award-winning range of low-cost, high-quality products.
We are seeking to deliver a new community food store, representing an investment of £7 million in the local economy.
If approved, the plans would provide up to 40 new jobs, paid at an industry leading rate.
The closest Aldi stores to the site are currently in Bristol and Thornbury. These are increasingly popular and busy.
A new store at Riverside Retail Park will improve access to Aldi’s range of products for people in Yate and the surrounding areas: reducing the need to travel further afield.
