Award-winning discount food retailer, Aldi, is bringing forward a planning application to improve its offering in Hilton, by relocating to a new, more suitable site on Derby Road.
Our existing Huntspill Road store is very popular with residents and as a result, is unable to meet local demand, with both the store and car park regularly operating at over capacity.
There is no room to expand our offering in its current location and as such, we are preparing proposals for a new store that would better meet the needs of the local community.
The new store includes over 50 additional parking spaces, and its modern internal design will provide more space and vastly improve the Aldi shopping experience in Hilton. Aldi would continue to trade from the Huntspill Road store while the new store is being built, and all staff would be transferred across to the new store.
Community consultation
Aldi is committed to meaningful community engagement regarding its proposals for new stores. As such, we are hosting a community consultation to gather feedback from local people in Hilton before submitting a planning application.
The community consultation will commence on the 16th March and close at midnight on the 30th March 2023, though this website will remain active throughout the planning process.
Following the community consultation, Aldi will consider all feedback received and use it to help inform the planning application that will be submitted to South Derbyshire District Council in the coming months.
