Proposals

The proposed store will be located on Farnborough Way, Farnborough, and the site is currently occupied by a now permanently closed Frankie and Benny’s restaurant.

Aldi’s proposal offers:

  • A new, high-quality, discount Aldi food store with a sales area of 933 sqm, smaller than the usual store size of 1,300 sqm.
  • A tailored approach to the design which is unique to this site to ensure it responds to the surrounding area.
  • Greatly enhance local shopping choice and complement existing local shops and services.
  • Attractive landscaping and acoustic reduction buffering, respecting its setting close to nearby residents.
  • Free customer parking with 47 spaces, including 3 designated blue badge bays and 2 parent & child spaces.
  • Green and sustainable transport facilities, including 22 new bicycle spaces and 2 dedicated electric car charging points.
  • Improved cycle and pedestrian links to the nearby area, including to and from Farnborough Village.
  • Access point onto Farnborough Way.
  • Up to 50 new jobs, paid at above the National Living Wage, as well as employment opportunities during construction and through the supply chain.
  • A new store in a convenient location, which would reduce the need for customers to travel to stores further afield and be able to shop more locally.
