Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, are proposing to develop a new discount food store at the junction of Pentland Road/A701 in the Straiton area of Midlothian.

The proposals would see a new, modern food store development to serve residents living within the Straiton, Loanhead, Bilston and Roslin areas, and will improve the range and quality of shopping provision within the local area.  The proposal would introduce a brand-new discount store to Straiton, reducing the need for residents to travel into Edinburgh and East Lothian to visit their stores to complete their grocery shopping and provide the local community with access to Aldi’s high-quality offer and award-winning low prices.

The proposals are at an early stage and no planning application has been submitted to Midlothian Council at this stage. Aldi would like to hear your views about our ambitions for a new store in Straiton which could be open as early as summer 2023.

Online question and answer session

We are holding an online question and answer session for local residents to find out more about the plans, on Tuesday 16 March 2021 between 18:00 and 20:00. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have, and to receive feedback on the initial proposals.
