Aldi’s proposals will see the site sustainably redeveloped as part of the Wixams Northern Expansion Area. The site benefits from an outline planning application for commercial and employment use, submitted in 2015 (ref. 15/00466/EIA).

ALDI has previously secured consent for a Reserved Matters Application (RMA) but will be submitting a new reserved matters application to reflect its current needs, which has evolved since the time of the previous application.

The application site is approximately 20.5ha in size, and is located within the western part of the wider 67 hectare Wixams Northern Expansion Area, in the northern part of the developing settlement of Wixams. It currently comprises of undeveloped agricultural land.

The site is bounded to the west / north west by the Midland Mainline railway, to the south by Harrowden Brook, and to the east / north east by the remainder of the Wixams Northern Expansion Area site, which is also the subject of the outline planning permission for a new employment park (ref. 15/00466/EIA).
