Welcome

Award-winning discount food retailer Aldi is bringing forward a planning application to deliver jobs and choice for Longbridge residents by delivering a discount supermarket to the area.

Currently, Longbridge residents are poorly served by discount supermarkets leaving them no choice but to travel further afield to Kings Norton or Northfield or shopping at pricier alternatives.

Aldi wants to change this by delivering a new store for local residents that will create up to 50 jobs in-store, additional jobs during construction, and permanent jobs throughout the supply chain. With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to impact everyone, it is now more important than ever, that local people have access to high-quality but low-cost supermarket goods.

Community Consultation

Aldi deeply values community involvement when proposing new stores. To this end, we will be initiating a community consultation to gather insights from the residents of Longbridge before we submit a formal planning application.

This community consultation will start on Monday 20 November 2023 and end on Thursday 30 November 2023. This website will remain accessible throughout the entire planning process.

Once the community consultation concludes, Aldi will carefully review all the feedback received. This will play a vital role in shaping the planning application we submit to Birmingham City Council in the subsequent months.

We eagerly anticipate your insights and feedback on our proposals. To review our plans, please visit the ‘Virtual Exhibition’ and share your thoughts through our online feedback form.
