The plans are to redevelop the store at its current site on Bristol Road, Selly Oak.
Aldi’s proposal for Selly Oak offers:
- A £5m+ investment into the local economy
- A brand-new replacement Aldi food store with an increased sales area of 1,315sq m
- 131 car parking spaces at the store including six accessible, six parent and child, and four electric vehicle car charging points with the infrastructure for an additional 20
- Free car parking for up to 90 minutes and a customer toilet
- Creation of new jobs in addition to those that would be retained from the existing store, with enlarged welfare facilities for all staff
- Additional employment opportunities during construction of the store and through the supply chain
- Attractive landscaping around the site to improve its appearance
- A high-quality design, which offers a contemporary shopping experience
